Collection: Otari Shiukashvilli (Georgian/American Artist)
Romantic and sensual oil paintings by well known Georgian/American artist. Otari Shiuk (1921-1995), originally from Soviet Union republic of Georgia has immigrated to USA in 1980s. Mr. Shiuk (born Shiukashvili) made his first mark in Moscow Russia. He was highly regarded for his unique expression in the style of "Romantic Realism".
He has exhibited throughout Russia as well as Western Europe, including Italy, Germany, Spain, and Austria, and Taiwan. His works were featured in multiple gallerias throughout major US North-Eastern cities, such as New York City , Jersey City, Philadelphia and Washington, DC.
The artist used to say: "My number one goal in a portrait is to open the soul of this person today, at this moment," he said "It is not enough to make it lifelike. This I must do, but it is secondary."
The artist never painted from a photograph ."A photo of a landscape does not capture enough of the feeling of nature. I enjoy painting flowers because they are alive-a part of nature. But I cannot convey this unless I am with them, to feel their aliveness and uniqueness."
Our collection consists of Otari's late works which reflect a delicate connection with nature.
