2018 oil on Canvas. 18x22. Holy Brand by Alexandra Ovchinnikova
The modern world is the world of brands. It's a hierarchy. It's impossible to imagine life without the differentiation of high and low end brand names that deliver the message about the owner's social status. It's relevant even for the most classic stories, which shows that brands can be a big part of life and even a religion for some.
About the Artist:
Alexandra Ovchinnikova had a background and training in graphic design before descovering her passion in painting.
"I strech most of my canvasses myself. Since custom formats are the most fun. The frame is made to order and the canvas is streched by hand. In fact, even the preparation process inspires me and allows me to tune in to that special creative state of mind. Oil and acrylic are the classic materials that give confidence in the result and at the same time provide a wide field for experimentation. I use acrylic for more decorative work, and find oil ideal for paintings with academic overtones.
Through my paintings I start the dialogue with the viewer that touches utterly different topics from a simple narrative about the exterior human beauty to the deeper social manifestations of personality. The idea of the infinite inner space is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for me. I feel that the mysticism of the world around us craves to be expressed in paint on canvas and has the power to manifest itself to the viewer through workers of art. Catching the subtle feeling of pulsating life full of mysteries, questions and secrets against the background of infinite sense of calmness and confidence, is the main goal of my art and my work."
